If your home will be listed with a Realtor this summer, adding some beautiful plants and trees to your property can attract potential home buyers. Prepare a landscaping plan that will complement the architecture of your home and the topographical features that it is situated on.

Your Plan

Take some photographs of each side of your home and the entire expanse of your lawn. Have the photos blown up. This will allow you to get a good look at all of the space you have for planting.

Pay attention to how balanced your property looks. Maybe, there are a lot of trees bordering one side of your home, but not as many on the other side of your home. If this is the case, you could focus on adding new landscaping elements to the side of your home that doesn't feature much vegetation.

Assess the walkways and other hardscape surfaces that comprise your property. If any of the paving materials do not have any greenery located near them, the addition of flowering plants or lush vines can add an attractive design element.

Your plan should include the amount of money that you will be investing in landscaping supplies. If you do not have a lot of landscaping tools at your disposal, factor in the cost of investing in a new lawnmower, pruning shears, and other essentials.

The Planting Strategies

It is best to invest in plant and tree species that are native to the area where you live. These species are equipped to handle the weather patterns that are customary in the region where you reside.

Decide if you would like to use a symmetrical or asymmetrical approach when planting. If your home possesses a formal design and features many distinct architectural elements, you may want to use a rigid formation when planting various trees and plant species. If your home possesses an informal design, you may want to use a more relaxed style when planting.

Each landscaping display that you add to your property should have a purpose. A new flowerbed can be added along a side of your home that does not contain many windows. A series of trees can be added to a section of your yard where you would like to increase the amount of privacy.

Once you have transplanted all of the plants and trees, install some landscape lighting next to the new greenery. LED lighting or solar lighting will enhance each display that you have added to your property.
